If you're planning to travel abroad , in many cases you will need to obtain a visa beforehand. The requirements vary according to your country of origin and your destination. But for a lot of people, the process to be granted a visa can seem daunting and unclear. In this article, we share important tips about visas to equip you with the knowledge to prepare for your international trip. Read on to find out more about how tourist visas work, including a very useful sample cover letter for your tourist visa application.
A tourist visa or visitor visa is an official document that allows you to get in another country. In general, you are likely to need one every time you visit another country. However, this depends on which country you are from and where you are going, as some countries have agreements that allow entrance even without it.
A tourist visa may take different forms: it can be a paper document, although it most often comes as a simple stamp in your passport . Some countries require you to arrange your visa before arriving in the country, while others issue it to you once you land at the airport.
A tourist visa indicates how long you are allowed to stay in the country. It also defines which activities you are allowed to participate in or not while there, such as working and studying.
A tourist visa is the most common and most acquired type of visa. It is usually only valid for a short period of time, commonly ranging from a few weeks to a couple of months.
This is what you will need if you are just planning to visit the country. A tourist visa however doesn't allow you to work and study while you are in a particular country.
Others types of visas include student visas, business visas, media visas, fiancé visas , and many others depending on the place you're travelling to.
Resident visas are also available for those who want to live in a particular country. You will normally need a valid reason to obtain this type of visa, as they tend to be the most difficult to get.
As mentioned above, tourist visa requirements vary with your nationality and your destination, as well as where you make your application. You should always check the instructions application to your specific situation on the relevant embassy or consulate website. Having said that, there are some general requirements and common documents that are needed for most tourist visa applications.
These include:
Most tourist visa applications require you to show proof of travel insurance coverage for the duration of your trip. We use and recommend SafetyWing as our preferred travel medical insurance provider. It's the most flexible and affordable we've found, starting at just $1.32 per day. They can also provide a visa letter to support your application. If you're looking for more comprehensive coverage, World Nomads is also a reliable and very popular alternative among global travelers. Note: In our experience and to the best of our knowledge, these two travel insurance options fulfill the requirements for most tourist visa applications. However, please make sure to check that they meet the specific criteria applicable to your individual case.

The cover letter or letter to the consulate is necessary for tourist visas that require interviews. This letter needs to explain why you want to visit the country and where you will be staying in the country. It must also outline the intended dates and duration of your stay.
Moreover, this letter is your way to tell the embassy if you are getting a sponsorship from a friend, parents, or a romantic partner who are currently based in that country. It's important to take your time to write your cover letter, although you should also make sure to keep it to-the-point and not too long.
If the trip is going to be sponsored by someone else , make sure to include the following details in the cover letter for your tourist visa application:
The cover letter is a really important document to provide before your trip. It states every important thing you want to tell the embassy or consulate. Make sure that it mentions and explains every document you've submitted.
To give you a better insight into how to create a cover letter for your visa application, here is a sample cover letter for a tourist visa needed to enter a country:

Our Job Search Coach Jannie Allen shares her insider tips.
Jannie says:
"The cover letter is a claim for the role – it is your chance to highlight and match your experience against the job description and to clearly state what you can offer your potential employer.
It is a targeted single-page document to the person who advertised the position. It is often your first point of contact with an employer/recruiter to get them interested in reading your CV and interviewing you."
- Why you are interested in the role - Your relevant skills, experience, and accomplishments - Evidence that you have researched the company and that you would be a good fit.
Before you start the main part of the letter, write your mobile number, email address and Skype ID at the top left-hand side of the letter. Follow this by the date and then write Re: followed by the title of the job you are applying for and a reference number if it’s provided. Check the listing carefully as this reference is often at the end of the ad. Then follow with a greeting, addressing the person by name (if at all possible).
Open with a strong statement giving the reason you are applying for the position.
What you have you been doing, relevant to the role you are applying for. Be skills/achievements focused and focused on what you can bring to the company rather than what the company can do for you.
What kind of person are you (hint: mention your qualities which are aligned to the role)
Your motivation for wanting to settle in NZ and why you want to live in that particular area. Invite the reader to contact you if they have any questions about your application.
Jannie's advice:.
If a contact person is mentioned in the listing, it is recommended that you make a connection, preferably by phoning them, so that you can introduce yourself and ask some questions about the role. That way your application will stand out.
In conclusion, in your cover letter you need to present a strong case for the best matched skills and experience against the job description.
Never send out a generic letter as this is one way to communicate that you have not tried to research the role or the company, and that you are not genuinely interested.
Anna was worth her weight in gold---she was fantastic at helping me format my CV and search for jobs that suited my skill set. In the end, I got a great job in a great city. With planning this trip comes applying for a visitor visa or a NZeTA. Read on to learn about the entire process of the New Zealand Tourist Visa Application . Our Visa guide includes step-by-step instructions, success tips, and insights into common pitfalls, providing you with the knowledge for a successful visa application!
WHAT IS COVERED IN THIS ARTICLE?
Step 1: determine if you need to apply.
Firstly, let’s establish whether you need a visitor visa or an NZeTA to visit New Zealand. If you are travelling with a passport from a country eligible for a visa waiver or if you are an Australian permanent resident (non-citizen), you need to obtain an NZeTA. You can apply on the NZeTA website to obtain one.
But if you fall under any of the following conditions, you need to apply for a visitor visa:
You can check whether your country is on the list of visa waiver countries on the official website of New Zealand Immigration.
Note: It is not required to have both an NZeTA and a visitor visa.
Now, let’s discuss how you can apply for a New Zealand Visitor Visa. If you prefer a convenient and efficient way to apply for your New Zealand tourist visa, applying online is your best option. This method streamlines the application process and allows you to submit your documents electronically.
If you are going to apply online, you can follow this link to start your New Zealand Visitor Visa application. For an online application, you have to create a RealMe account first or log into an existing one. If you feel the need to find assistance in filling out this application, you can reach out to us at our Visa Application Helpline.
If you cannot apply online or prefer a paper application, you can use the Visitor Visa Application form (1017) for non-online applications. This traditional method requires you to fill out the necessary forms and provide physical copies of your supporting documents.
Make sure to complete the form thoroughly and accurately, providing truthful details in uppercase letters. Additionally, enclose two identical photos of yourself, captured within the last six months, and inscribe your full name on the back of each photo.
Depending on your visa type, you may be asked to attend an interview or undergo medical examinations. Follow any instructions provided during the application process.
To initiate your visa application process, book an appointment with VFS.GLOBAL at a designated visa application centre. Fill in the necessary details, including your full name, contact information, passport details, and any additional information required by the appointment booking system.
If your country lacks a New Zealand visa application centre, you must submit your application to the nearest one in another country. Upon successful booking, expect a confirmation email and an appointment letter.
Make sure that you reach the designated visa application centre on time for your appointment. Here, you have to first submit your completed application and all the requisite documents.
Upon submission, your document will be returned through a courier service, available at an additional charge for postal applications in certain Visa Application Centers.
The cost of your New Zealand tourist visa may vary depending on your chosen application method. The application fees start from NZD 211 and can be higher depending on your particular case. This is because sometimes you have to pay a levy and sometimes, you may not have to pay the fee. You can check this on New Zealand Immigration’s website as well.
You have several payment options available for your visa application fee:
Keep in mind that visa application fees are typically non-refundable, even if your application is rejected. Therefore, ensuring that your application is complete and meets all requirements is essential. If you have any doubts, consider seeking professional assistance or guidance to increase the chances of a successful application.
Now, that you have successfully applied for a New Zealand Visitor visa and paid the fee, you have to wait through the processing time. Many factors affect the processing time of a visa application but in the case of New Zealand Visitor Visa, it is usually 40 days to 56 days.
The processing time for your New Zealand visa application can be influenced by several factors, including:
You can also track the status of your New Zealand visa application on your RealMe account. This tool allows you to monitor the progress of your application and provides updates on its status.
Be sure to keep the reference number or identification details provided during your application submission handy to use the tracking system effectively. If your application is delayed or if you have specific concerns, you can also contact the appropriate immigration office or centre for assistance and inquiries regarding your application’s status.
Upon approval of your New Zealand tourist visa application, you will receive either a label on your passport or a confirmation letter. The specific format depends on your visa type and application method.
Make sure to keep this document safe and readily accessible during your travels, as you may be required to present it to New Zealand immigration officials.
Your New Zealand tourist visa will have an expiration date. It is crucial to be aware of this date and adhere to it. Be sure to plan your departure from New Zealand to coincide with the visa’s expiration date, and do not exceed the allowed duration of your stay.
If you wish to extend your New Zealand visitor visa, ensure a valid reason, apply online through New Zealand Immigration, pay the fee, and meet specific eligibility criteria. Overstaying your visa can have serious consequences, including deportation, fines, and future travel restrictions.
By following these steps and adhering to the specific guidelines provided for your visa category, you can apply for entry permission to New Zealand and enjoy your visit or stay while complying with New Zealand’s immigration regulations.
1. Double-Check All Documents
Before submitting your New Zealand visa application, meticulously review all documents to ensure they are complete, up-to-date, and accurate. Missing or incorrect documents can lead to delays or a rejected application.
2. Be Honest and Accurate
Provide truthful and accurate information in your application. Any false or misleading information can result in your application being denied, and it may have long-term consequences for future travel to New Zealand.
3. Apply in Advance
Apply for your New Zealand visa well in advance of your intended travel date. This allows for sufficient processing time and ensures that you have your visa in hand when you need it.
4. Seek Professional Advice (if Necessary)
If you have a complex case or are unsure about the application process, consider seeking professional advice from an immigration consultant or lawyer. They can provide guidance and assistance to increase the likelihood of a successful application.
5. Keep Copies of All Documents
Make copies of all documents submitted with your application and keep them in a safe place. Having duplicates can be invaluable in case any issues arise during the application process.
6. Stay Organized and Patient
Organize your application materials and maintain a record of key dates and communication with immigration authorities. Additionally, be patient throughout the process, as visa processing times can vary. Avoid unnecessary stress by planning and allowing for ample time to complete your application.
By following these tips, you can increase the chances of a successful New Zealand visa application and ensure a smoother experience in your travel preparations.
If your New Zealand visa application is rejected, you have the option to request a reconsideration from Immigration New Zealand under certain conditions. To qualify for reconsideration:
For those who submitted a paper visa application or used an alternative online system, a written request for reconsideration is mandatory. The request should include:
If Immigration New Zealand acknowledges an error in their initial decision, you will be granted a visa. However, if the initial decision stands, no visa will be granted. The reconsideration process takes approximately six months, and a fee of NZD 250 is applicable.
1. Incomplete Application
One of the most common mistakes is submitting an incomplete application . Ensure that all required forms and supporting documents are provided as per the visa category guidelines. Incomplete applications may lead to processing delays or rejections.
2. Providing False Information
Being dishonest on your application is a critical mistake. False information can result in your visa being denied, which may affect your future travel opportunities. Always provide accurate and truthful information.
3. Ignoring Visa Category Requirements
Each visa category has specific requirements and conditions. Failing to meet these requirements can lead to visa denials. Carefully review the guidelines for your chosen visa category and ensure you meet all criteria.
4. Late Submission
Late submission of your visa application can disrupt your travel plans. Apply well in advance of your intended travel date to account for processing time. Waiting until the last minute can lead to disappointment.
5. Not Providing Proof of Sufficient Funds
Failure to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to support your stay is a significant oversight. Make sure to provide clear evidence of your financial means, such as bank statements or sponsorship letters, as required by your visa category.
6. Neglecting Health and Character Requirements
If your visa type necessitates health or character assessments, ensure you fulfil these requirements. Neglecting these obligations can result in visa denials. Attend required medical examinations and provide police clearance certificates when necessary.
Avoiding these common mistakes can greatly enhance the likelihood of a successful New Zealand visa application and ensure a smooth and trouble-free travel experience.
In conclusion, embarking on the journey to apply for a New Zealand visitor visa is not just a bureaucratic process but a gateway to a land of unparalleled beauty and cultural richness. New Zealand, with its breathtaking landscapes, friendly locals, and vibrant cities, offers an experience like no other.
As you navigate through the application process, it’s essential to remember the key components. Gathering the required documents, filling out the application form accurately, and providing honest information are crucial steps. Be sure to double-check all details, as accuracy can significantly expedite the processing time.
Are you feeling the wanderlust itching to plan your New Zealand getaway? Perhaps it’s time to ask yourself: What are you waiting for?

Employment certificate, financial documents, and income tax return (ITR) are the staples of most visa applications. But there is one document that is usually overlooked — the cover letter.
A cover letter isn’t always a requirement when applying for a visa. However, it’s something that we often recommend to add to your pile of documents, especially if there is no interview and you have some explaining to do.
You see, sometimes, things don’t always fit the mold perfectly. There are cases wherein you can’t provide the exact document needed, but you have a very good alternative. Or maybe you just can’t provide something at all, but you have a perfectly valid reason. Or perhaps you’re traveling with a group or for a special purpose. These instances could probably benefit from a well-crafted explanation to give the visa officer a clearer picture of your situation.
When I apply for a visa, I usually submit a cover letter regardless of whether or not it’s one of the requirements. I always want to give a summary of my application and clarify some aspects that may be prone to misinterpretation.
WHAT'S COVERED IN THIS GUIDE?
For me, a good cover letter must be able to provide the following:
Looks like a lot, huh? But here’s the thing: According to a couple of friends who used to work as visa officers at strict embassies, they usually had very little time to assess each application. Hence, if you’re going to make a cover letter, go straight to the point . One page should be enough. The key is being concise — finding the balance between giving enough information and keeping it short and sweet.
Here are some samples. I intentionally used complicated situations to give you an idea how I usually explain them. If they don’t apply to you, feel free to modify these to match your case. Please use this only as a model for your own cover letter. Please do not copy-paste the whole thing without adjustments.

2. OK lang kahit isa lang kung sa tingin mo strong enough ung account na yun. Pwede ring madami if feeling mo di enough ung isa lang.
3. Naeempty ba ung payroll account when u transfer?
4. Bank cert lang naman ang need ng Japan so kahit walang statement, ok lang.
5. If hindi ka magsusubmit ng statement, di na need iexplain kasi hindi lalabas. :)
I plan to visit Canada and have started my visa application. I selected visit friend for purpose instead of tourism as I would like to be fully honest with my application. My very purpose is to be with my boyfriend and meet his family and friends. Touring comes as a bonus. Would it be fine to add captions or narrations on the pdf document together with our pictures as proof? I also have our hotel and tour bookings and his boarding passes on the two times that he has visited me here in PH. This is the Proof of Relationship section on the application visa.

Applying for a partnership-based visa can be a lengthy and complicated process. However, one of the most important parts of your application is the cover letter.
The cover letter helps you explain your relationship, demonstrate how you meet the criteria, and persuade Immigration New Zealand (INZ) to grant you a visa.
Many applicants think that writing a brief letter stating their connection and love for their partner is enough, but that’s usually not the case. In reality, the cover letter allows you to showcase your relationship and convince the INZ case officer that your relationship is genuine and committed. Hence writing a compelling cover letter is crucial.
In this blog post, we will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to write a convincing cover letter for a partnership-based visa application. By following our tips and tricks, you will be able to structure your letter, address potential issues, and include all the necessary information to make your application a success.
Before you begin writing your cover letter, it is essential to understand the eligibility requirements for your partnership visa application. You should read the INZ website to determine the main requirements for your visa category. Be sure to review the requirements carefully so that you can tailor your letter to meet the specific criteria.
For example, if you are applying for a partnership-based resident visa, you need to demonstrate that you have lived together for at least 12 months before applying for the visa.
In the cover letter, you need to describe your relationship with your partner and how it has developed over time.
Your cover letter should consist of four main parts: an introduction, your relationship history, how you meet the eligibility criteria, and a conclusion.
Start with an attention-grabbing introduction that sets out the purpose of your letter and your reasons for applying for the visa. Next, provide a detailed account of your relationship, how you met, and your plans for the future. The third part of your letter should answer how you meet the criteria for your visa category. You should be explicit in demonstrating how your relationship meets each criterion. Finally, conclude your letter by summarizing why you believe that you and your partner meet the requirements for the visa category.
Your cover letter should include any supporting evidence that demonstrates your relationship meets the criteria for the visa category.
It’s not enough to say that you are in a committed relationship ; you must demonstrate it with evidence. For example, you can provide photographs, proof of joint bank accounts, or joint utility bills that show that you have been living together. You should also explain each piece of evidence and how it helps to support your claim. Be sure to provide a clear and concise explanation so the reader understands each document’s relevance.
Failing to provide evidence to support your claims can harm your application and lead to a visa refusal.
If you anticipate there may be any potential issues with your application; you should address them in your cover letter. This may include any previous visa refusals or convictions. You should explain the circumstances surrounding the issue and how you have taken steps to rectify the situation. It is important to address these issues proactively, as it demonstrates your transparency and willingness to comply with the relevant immigration instructions of INZ.
Your cover letter should be well-written, clear, and concise. Be sure to proofread and edit your letter carefully before submitting your application. Look for any grammatical errors or spelling mistakes, and ensure that your letter flows logically from one point to the next.
Writing a convincing cover letter for your partnership visa application is crucial in your visa journey. By following our step-by-step guide, you can structure your letter, address any potential issues, and provide the necessary evidence to demonstrate that you and your partner meet the requirements for the visa category. Remember to tailor your letter to meet the specific criteria and to proofread and edit your letter before submitting your application. With determination, effort, and the right amount of preparation, you can increase your chances of success and achieve your dreams of living in New Zealand with your partner.

A well-crafted support letter can be a powerful tool in demonstrating that the relationship is genuine. This guide will walk you through the key elements that you will need to think about when writing such a letter. If you still have questions, contact Immigration Lawyer NZ .
Relationship support letters play a crucial role in the immigration process for New Zealand, especially for spouse visa applications. They can also be used to support a general visitor visa application if the partner is coming from a non-visa-waiver country and lacks eligibility for a partner visa. These letters come in two main types:
We recommend the relationship letter be written individually, i.e. one from the applicant and one from the partner providing sponsorship, but if it is too much work, writing and signing one letter jointly will suffice.
When assessing these letters, case officers focus on the narrative flow and the chronological context it provides. They aim to understand how the relationship initially started, evolved, and reached significant steps such as engagement, moving in together, or marriage. This perspective allows them to gauge the genuine commitment shared between the partners.
The purpose of the letters cannot be overstated. While supporting documents like passports, certificates, and photographs are essential, they often lack the depth needed to truly understand the lives and emotions of the applicant and their partner. These letters offer a unique opportunity to provide richness and genuineness to your story, allowing the case officer to gain more insight into your relationship and ultimately enhancing your application's credibility.
Here are some of the main points we advise our clients to include in writing this letter in support. Depending on your preferred approach, you may choose to present these points as separate sections within your letter or integrate them as sub-topics within the timeline of your relationship, whichever method aligns more logically and flows naturally with your unique situation.
The history should cover when you first met up to the present time, as well as future plans. Explain your relationship in chronological order so that the department of immigration can observe the progression. Please always make sure to include relevant details such as specific dates, locations, and the names of those involved to provide a comprehensive account of your relationship.
Be sure to include important stepping stones and events such as your first date, any noteworthy celebrations like birthdays or anniversaries, making the decision to get married, and instances of travelling together or embarking on adventures. Mention the date of moving in and the address, as this is one of the most crucial milestones in a partnership visa application.
One of the primary objectives of your letter in support is to convince the immigration officer regarding the enduring, committed, and exclusive nature of your relationship. Put emphasis that your relationship is authentic, that you have weathered challenges and are looking forward to spending the rest of your lives together.
Beyond presenting a factual account of your relationship, take the opportunity to bring out your personal perspectives. Discuss how you both perceive your relationship, your feelings towards it, to each other and the direction in which you see it heading. Express your genuine emotions and the depth of your commitment. You can talk about experiences that have deeply touched you as a couple and solidified the bond.
It's important to acknowledge that no relationship is without its challenges, including occasional disagreements or setbacks. Some immigration officers may question the authenticity of your relationship, which appears to have no issues.
If you wanted to address this, you could briefly mention that, like any couple, you have faced challenges and disagreements from time to time. However, emphasise how you have worked through these issues maturely and with a shared commitment to strengthening your partnership.
If the relationship was affected by factors outside of your control, for example, maintaining a long-distance relationship, travel restrictions and separation due to COVID-19, mention how your unwavering commitment to each other made it possible to overcome and keep your relationship thriving, even when circumstances made it difficult.
Within your letter, it's essential to underline the recognition and support your relationship receives from friends and family members. Explain how they are not only aware of your partnership but also endorse and encourage it. This can be a solid testament to the legitimacy of your relationship and the valuable network of support you have built around it.
In some cultures, societal norms or legal constraints may make it challenging for individuals in same-sex or LGBTQ relationships to disclose their partnerships openly. It's important to clarify within your letter that, due to cultural factors, you may not have openly shared your relationship status with a broader audience.
Likewise, premarital "living together" arrangements are forbidden due to cultural values, and you may have chosen not to disclose it to your family and friends. You will need to provide the relevant context while highlighting to the immigration officer that your relationship is genuine and committed regardless (with suitable supporting evidence).
It's important to understand that open marriages, open relationships, or polygamous relationships will not be approved. Immigration authorities look at exclusivity as one of the key factors when assessing whether a couple's relationship is genuine. Even if you genuinely believe that the relationship works for the parties involved, Immigration New Zealand will not consider it to be a committed relationship.
Consider your individual circumstances when deciding which points to include in your letter. There's no need to disclose everything; the point is to write a compelling letter of support for the purpose of a spousal sponsorship application. Instead, focus on highlighting your strengths rather than dwelling on weaknesses.
Obtaining letters from friends or family can be a pivotal aspect when applying for a visa to New Zealand. These letters serve as endorsements of your relationship and can significantly contribute to a positive outcome for your application. These individuals should not only understand your relationship with your partner but also have known the couple for a considerable duration to give their story more weight.
The letters aim to provide immigration officials with an external perspective on your relationship. Your friends or family members, who are aware of the relationship and how long they have known you and your partner, can attest to the authenticity of your bond. Their letters allow Immigration NZ to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of your relationship, improving the credibility of your application.
When asking your friends or family to write a letter of support, encourage them to include their contact information and their relationship with your partner (e.g. went to school together, work colleague, etc). Highlight that the letter should emphasise positive aspects of your relationship, such as when you decided to get married, how long they have known you as a couple, or when they've been to the place where you are currently living together.
The letters will act as an additional layer of relationship documents, which will strengthen your case and increase the chances of a successful immigration application to INZ.

Dear Honorable Consult, My name is Hana Bruno (passport number: AL11223344); I am a Macedonian citizen who lives in Skopje, Macedonia. I am a master’s student in Psychology. I am applying for a Romania visa because I recently accepted a scholarship from a Romanian University for Psychology Master Degree. The University that offered me the scholarship is The University of Romania in Budapest; the scholarship is available from March 2023 for six months. The scholarship has a monthly amount of €900; it includes my traveling tickets (two ways), the accommodation, and any monthly expenses I might have while in Budapest. I might say this is more than enough for a student in Budapest. I have taken many courses and have always been an excellent student; I believe I am more than prepared for this opportunity. This journey will help me develop in many ways, including personal and professional aspects. I want to use this time to learn new things, meet new people, and visit as many tourist attractions as possible. I have always heard incredible things about Budapest, and being able to experience this journey in Budapest is a dream. I believe this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I want to take it! Hi there folks! Once again I’m gonna share with you another visa application story I’ve just experienced earlier this year. This time it’s about getting a New Zealand visitor visa. Last year, I was planning to travel to New Zealand and explore key cities such as Auckland and Queenstown. Also, not to mention the place where The Lord of the Rings was filmed in! And that is none other than the Middle Earth’s Hobbiton! But there’s a caveat, as a Philippine passport holder, we are required to obtain a visitor visa to enter New Zealand. In short, we are not part of visa waiver countries and territories. With this in mind, let’s hope and pray that someday, New Zealand will open its door to us visa-free!
This post is all about getting an NZ visitor visa. On the other hand, for other visa options, please visit Immigration New Zealand’s website here .
So without further ado, please see the guide below to apply for an NZ visitor visa. With a Visitor visa, you can stay for a maximum of 9 months.
First of all, VFS Global is the partner of the New Zealand embassy that receives visa applications.
There are three types of visa application: 1.) Walk-in or via representative (provided the representative has authorisation letter) 2.) Send via courier 3.) Online application
Because I am a busy person, I chose the online application because it saves time. Please see step by step guide to accomplish online application form:
9.) The next pages will basically ask information about your identity, and contact details, visit details, health details, work history, other contacts, etc. Take note guys that you MUST answer the questions TRUTHFULLY. Because they will definitely do a background check and if they’d find out that you lied to immigration that will affect your future visa applications. Therefore, please read carefully and answer truthfully.
10.) At the end of the application, you will be required to upload your documents mostly in PDF format, not more than 10MB. This is very important. However, f you upload more than the recommended size, the system will throw an exception error message.
So I will list here the required documents you would be needing to submit online.
Finally, after accomplishing the forms and submitting completely all required documents, you may now go to VFS to submit your passport. Or you can wait for their email saying that you can now submit your passport. For this reason, you can do either way.
To submit your passport you have three (3) options:
Manila Address: VFS Global Services Philippines Private Inc., Mezzanine Floor Unit M01, Ecoplaza Building, 2305 Chino Roces Avenue Extension Makati City, Metro Manila 1231 Cebu Address: VFS Global Services Philippines Private Inc., 9th Floor, Keppel Center, Unit 905, Samar Loop cor. Cardinal Rosales Avenue, Cebu Business Park, Cebu City 6000
And there you go! Normally, the processing time takes 20 business days. Of course, this depends if you submitted completely all the documents required. Typically if you have first world visas it will be easier for you to get approved. Hence, I received the approval within 4 working days because I already have a US visa. In other words, these powerful visas, like the US, are your gateway to other first world countries.
To give you an idea of the timeline, kindly refer below:
Not to mention, when I tried to call on VFS, they told me that our passports were ready for pick up last March 4. While other applicants receive their visas on an average of 3-5 working days, I got mine for almost 2 working days! I strongly believe that this was due to my US visa and other travel records and stamps on my passport. As a result, I became a happy camper 🙂
Before I forget to say, you can retrieve your passport from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Mondays to Fridays (Manila) and from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (Cebu). Always be early when claiming your passports as a practice. Being an early bird is such a nice trait indeed!
Do you plan to visit New Zealand someday? I highly recommend to add it to your bucket list as one of the countries to travel to. Let me know if you have any question and I’ll try my best to answer you as soon as I can. Furthermore, follow me on Facebook , Twitter and Instagram .
I'm gonna tell you how I got my US Visa in 1 week! But before…
Very helpful, Say! Thank you and More blessings ❤️
Glad that you found it helpful! Stay tuned for more travel posts 🙂

Kelan mo balak mag punta ng NZ?
was there any interviews or medical certificate needed?
Hello Ven! In my experience, there was no medical certificate required.
Is it necessary to include the Itinerary as I am planning to go to visit my friend for 45 days.
What if I don’t show them the return ticket? Is it highly risky?
Hi there! Apologies as I have just read your comment. As a rule of thumb, it is much better to show them your return ticket so the IO would not suspect that you would to overstay in their country.
Are you planning a trip to New Zealand and wondering how to apply for a New Zealand visitor visa ? In this post, I’m sharing my personal experience with the New Zealand visitor visa application process. From the required documents to the online application, I’ve got you covered!
Table of Contents
Step 1 – know your visa type, step 2 – create a realme account, step 3 – complete your online application and upload requirements, step 4 – choose a visa application centre and make an appointment, step 5 – pay the application fee online, step 6 – submit your passport to the visa application centre, step 7 – wait for the result, how much bank balance is required for new zealand tourist visa, is new zealand visa easy to get, how long will nz visa processing take, how much is new zealand visa fee in philippines, is there an interview for new zealand tourist visa, is new zealand visa free to philippines.
The requirements may vary depending on the type of visitor visa you are applying for. Generally, you will need to provide your passport, proof of funds, travel itinerary, and evidence of your ties to your home country.
Here are the requirements I submitted for my New Zealand Visitor Visa application:
Before starting the application, determine which type of visitor visa you need. New Zealand offers several types of visitor visas depending on the purpose and duration of your stay. Some of the most common visitor visas are the General Visitor Visa (tourist or family visit), Business Visitor Visa, Group Visitor Visa, and the Academic Visitor Visa. You can find more information on the types of visitor visas available on the New Zealand Immigration website .
In my case, I applied for a General Visitor Visa because the purpose of my visit is for tourism only. This visa allows you to come to New Zealand as a visitor for a holiday or vacation. You can also study for up to three months or attend a job interview.
To apply for a New Zealand Visitor Visa, you will need to create a RealMe account . This is a secure online service that allows you to access and use multiple government services, including visa applications.
Once you have a RealMe account, you can start your online application for a New Zealand visitor visa. Make sure to fill out the application accurately and completely. If you need assistance with the application, you can contact the New Zealand Immigration Contact Centre.
After completing the online application, you will need to choose a Visa Application Centre (VAC) where you will submit your passport. When I finished my application online, I received a confirmation email the next day. I printed this, as it was required to be submitted along with my passport to VFS.
The application fee varies depending on the type of visa you are applying for. To apply for a New Zealand Visitor Visa, you must pay the application fee of NZD $246 at the time of submission. Moreover, every individual visiting New Zealand must pay an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) of NZD $35, which is included in the total cost.
Good news!!! If you are traveling to New Zealand for less than 60 days, then you are exempt from paying the application fee. When I applied, I only paid around 1,000 pesos for the IVL and the VFS Global service fee .
Immigration New Zealand may require some applicants to provide their passport to VFS Global for authentication. If you need to provide your passport, the website’s RealMe account link would have advised you of this when you submitted your online visa application. Since the New Zealand Embassy issues e-visas, the passport will be returned to you at the same time it was scanned.
After submitting your application, you can track its progress online. You will receive an email notification when a decision has been made on your application.
There is no specific amount required for a New Zealand visitor visa. However, you will need to show proof of sufficient funds to cover your travel expenses and support yourself during your stay in New Zealand. The amount required may vary depending on the length of your stay and your travel plans.
In my experience, the New Zealand visitor visa was easy to get. Generally, the ease of obtaining a visa will depend on several factors, such as your nationality, purpose of visit, and whether you meet the eligibility criteria. Your visa approval chances are good if you provide all the required documentation and meet the eligibility requirements.
Immigration New Zealand processes the visitor visa application within a timeframe that depends on various factors, such as visa type, application volume, and country of origin. To ensure enough processing time, it is advisable to submit your application well in advance of your travel date (~2 months).
As of April 2023, The average processing time for a New Zealand Visitor Visa application is 11 business days . In my experience, two months before the pandemic, the processing took 2 months. During that time, I was unaware that COVID-19 was spreading rapidly in China, where New Zealand visas are processed.
The fee for a New Zealand visitor visa in the Philippines depends on the type of visa you are applying for, the length of your stay, and the processing time. As of April 2023, the fee for a standard visitor visa ranges from PHP 6,200 to PHP 9,100.
During the New Zealand visitor visa application process, applicants may be required to attend an interview in certain cases. However, it is not always mandatory, as most applications are evaluated based on the submitted documents.
All Philippine passport holders must apply for a visitor visa prior to traveling to New Zealand and must pay the visa fee at the time of application.
As you can see, the process of applying for a New Zealand visitor visa is easy. I hope that this visa application guide can help you prepare your documents and requirements better. Please feel free to let me know how your application goes. Good luck!
Hey there! My name is Milet Miranda, and I'm a full-time corporate employee during weekdays and a traveler during weekends (and holidays...you get the picture). I'm a foodie at heart and I love joining food tours. When I'm not traveling, you'll find me walking my dogs or biking around my neighborhood.
As per DOJ, “regular tourists are not required additional documentation apart from their passports, visas if needed in the country of destination, round trip tickets, boarding passes.”
Hi. Re submission of passport to VFS, will you be able to get your passport same day? Or leave it to VFS until e-VISA is approved (may take 20 days or longer)? Can I apply early even if my intended travel is still 9 months ahead? Thank you.
Hello Wends. In my experience, I did get my passport as soon as I was done with the biometric in VFS. Re. How far in advance can you apply? According to VFS, the embassy doesn’t set a requirement for the number of days in advance for visa applications. For me, I submitted the application 3 months prior my intended travel date.
Thank you Ms Milet.
hi, you were not ask to have the medical?
No. According to the NZ Immigration website, If you will stay in New Zealand for less than 6 months, you normally do not need to get a chest x-ray unless you are applying for a Recognised Seasonal Employer limited visa, or they ask you to.
Hi Milet, Thank you for this guide. I’m currently in the process of creating a cover letter for NZ. May I please know where you addressed yours and will you be willing to share a redacted copy?
Hello Leah. I address the cover letter to the following:
The Honorable Consul Embassy of New Zealand 35th Floor Zuellig Building Makati Avenue corner Paseo de Roxas, Makati City 1225 Philippines
There’s a sample cover letter in my website for UK Visa application. It’s basically the same format and content with the cover letter I sent to NZ Embassy. Take a look and see if it helps.
Hello, I am planning to apply my General visitor’s visa. My country of origin Is Philippines. Processing time? Money in the bank? How much for visa approval!
Hello Judith. All your questions were answered in this post. Kindly read the entire article.
Hey there! I know this is kind of off-topic, but I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest authoring a blog post or vice-versa? My blog goes over a lot of the same topics as yours, and I believe we could greatly benefit from each other. If you happen to be interested, feel free to shoot me an e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you! Great blog by the way!
Hello! Can you please send me an email instead? Thanks!
Hi! Does a Ph passport holder apply a separate NZ visa if one wishes to visit shortly NZ from Australia?
Hello Jes. Yes, you need to apply for a NZ Visitor Visa.
do you need a confirmed ticket during the application? or the proof of sufficient funds maybe used as alternative?
Hello Mildred. As far as I know, confirmed ticket is not required. I submitted mine because I already booked my flights in advanced.
Hi there, does NZ issue visitor eVisas to Filipinos? I’m a little confused with the process cause others are saying you will just get an eVisa via email (similar to Australia) while others still need to go to VFS.
Hey Chris. NZ issues eVisas to Filipinos, same as AU. When I applied in 2020, I was asked to submit my passport to VFS Global for scanning. I got my passport as soon as they scanned it. I have a friend who recently applied (April 2023) and he wasn’t advised to submit passport to VFS. I think NZ has simplified the process since they opened their borders 🙂
