I'm not an expert in this at all, but I think you have an excellent essay here- the only suggestion I can think of would be to rearrange the last line of your essay. In my opinion this just sounds and flows better: In short, there is no other environment where a clinical physician's future could look any brighter, where comparable resources for a medical education exist, and where I would rather realize my goals than the Drexel College of Medicine.

You have stuck to the essay topic perfectly as well as giving a very detailed inspirational story about what happened in your childhood. my only suggestion is the same as ga717 and his/her example given fixes up the last line perfectly. Like I said before it's a great so I couldn't imagine any problems getting in with that.

When you write in a formal way, try not to begin a sentence with "there is" and "there are"... There is n No other environment appeals to me more as I prepare to actualize my goals. where a clinical physician's future could look any brighter, and where comparable resources for a medical education exist. And I would want to cut this last part because it can't possibly be true. Other institutions have good resources. But it is great to end with "my goals." :-) anyway, you did very well!

How to Get Into Drexel Medical School Tip – Know the Curriculum:

Curriculum Overview:

Drexel has a pre-clinical curriculum the first two years of medical school. Then, you take your USMLE Step 1 and then do 2 years of clinical rotations.

Additionally, the student body is split up into 6 learning communities. Together with your “Society,” you participate in small group learning, community service projects, and other social activities.

Pre-Clinical Years:

The first two years at Drexel Medical School focuses on basic biology and physiology. Additionally, you have case-based learning throughout your pre-clinical curriculum. Drexel’s mission statement emphasizes diversity alongside a spirit of collaboration within research and clinical sciences. They are known for their dedicated faculty and commitment to students who are experiencing hardship.

If you are a recent graduate, please tell us what you have been doing since graduation. If you have not yet graduated, please discuss your current activities and engagements. We understand that it may have been difficult to obtain clinical or volunteer service experiences during the pandemic; therefore, be sure to discuss any traditional and /or nontraditional clinical exposures and volunteering experiences that you have done during this time. (no limit)

This essay should explain what you have been doing since graduation as well as your planned activities for the gap year before matriculation into medical school. You should include work, education, personal experience (e.g. caring for family, travel), and volunteer work. Consider activities for the gap year that correct what might be lacking in your application – not enough clinical experience? Then, yes, you should engage in clinical experience during the gap year. If you have work experience, you can also give some insight into major accomplishments.

What else do you feel is important for us to know about you? Are there any challenges over the last year that impacted your medical or non-medical service experiences? You can use this space to highlight something not addressed in your application, including new experiences not in your AMCAS application. (1000 word limit)

Drexel has eliminated their secondary about diversity. I recommend using this space to highlight anything about you that is a distinctive characteristic or is of distinguishing value that doesn’t fit elsewhere in the application. This can include identity, gender, race, culture, family history, SES, personal loss or achievement, or a particularly meaningful experience . Do not repeat an activity that you discussed fully in another section of your primary application. 

If you have diverse characteristics in your pedigree, explore them. How will these personal attributes improve the scope of medicine for all? How does your identity and experience assist the mission of Drexel University College of Physicians and Surgeons? Speak to their mission as your diversity relates to it, and how this is an asset to patient care.

Alternatively, this could be where you explain how your education, volunteer work, employment, MCAT, shadowing, employment were affected by the pandemic and COVID-19 crisis. Most applicants will have had some disruption. Stay clear and factual here. Don’t over embellish your answer. Close with an unforeseen opportunity that arose, or what you learned from your pandemic experiences. Stay positive in conclusion.

If you took time off between undergraduate and medical school, describe the experiences you had during that time. For each experience, explain how this helped you grow and become a better medical school candidate, which is the most important goal of the gap year in the admissions committee’s eyes. Focus on the lessons you learned and skills you gained during the time off. Do not repeat what is in your primary application. This is a key to all secondaries. If you use a prior experience from the AMCAS primary (which can be difficult to avoid given the nature of some secondary questions), try to adopt a new angle or describe a different aspect of the experience than has been presented before. Consider using an anecdote to spice up the answer.

For this prompt you will likely need to be creative and discuss something less conventionally discussed in an application setting. Consider discussing the following: a unique personal attribute not otherwise described in the application; a formative experiences that was not touched on by your other application components; a skill or interest such as sports, music, etc. that you are passionate about; an influential person in your life and how they instruct your values; a particularly moving book or concept which is relevant to your values. In each scenario, if possible try to connect the experience to your ability and desire to become in a doctor (without stretching the truth or making the answer sound contrived).
