తండ్రీ త‌న‌యులు చిరంజీవి - రామ్‌చ‌ర‌ణ్ క‌లిసి న‌టించిన సినిమాగా...  వ‌రుస విజ‌యాల‌తో త‌క్కువ స‌మ‌యంలోనే స్టార్ ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు అనిపించుకున్న కొర‌టాల శివ సినిమాగా... మొద‌ట్నుంచీ ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్లో ప్ర‌త్యేక‌మైన ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తించింది ‘ఆచార్య‌’( Acharya) .  ఇక అభిమానులనైతే మ‌రింతగా ఊరించిన క‌ల‌యిక ఇది.  కొబ్బ‌రికాయ కొట్టిన‌ప్ప‌ట్నుంచే  సినిమాపై అంచ‌నాలు పెరిగిపోయాయి. కానీ, క‌రోనా క‌ష్టాల‌తో చాలా రోజులు సెట్స్‌పైనే మ‌గ్గిందీ చిత్రం. అయినా స‌రే,  ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్లో  ఈ సినిమాపై ఏమాత్రం క్రేజ్ త‌గ్గ‌లేదు. ఆకాశాన్ని తాకే అంచ‌నాల మ‌ధ్య ఎట్ట‌కేల‌కి ఈ వారం ప్రేక్ష‌కుల ముందుకొచ్చింది. మ‌రి చిత్రం అందుకు త‌గ్గ‌ట్టే ఉందా? చిరు-చరణ్‌ తెరపై చేసిన సందడి ఏంటి? ‘ఆచార్య’తో కొరటాల చెప్పించిన గుణపాఠాలు ఏంటి?

క‌థేంటంటే: 800 యేళ్ల చ‌రిత్ర ఉన్న టెంపుల్ టౌన్ ధ‌ర్మ‌స్థ‌లి. ధర్మానికి... ఆయుర్వేద వైద్యానికి ప్ర‌సిద్ధి. అక్క‌డ అధ‌ర్మం చోటు చేసుకున్న‌ప్పుడు అమ్మ‌వారే ఏదో రూపంలో వ‌చ్చి ధ‌ర్మాన్ని నిల‌బెడుతుంటుంది. అమ్మవారి పాదాల చెంత ధ‌ర్మ‌మే ప‌ర‌మావధిగా నివ‌సిస్తున్న ఓ చిన్న తండాకి పాద‌ఘ‌ట్టం అని పేరు. ఆ పాద‌ఘ‌ట్టం, దానిప‌క్క‌న ఉన్న సిద్ధ‌వ‌నంపై కొంత‌మంది అక్ర‌మార్కుల క‌న్ను ప‌డుతుంది. టెంపుల్ టౌన్ ధ‌ర్మ‌స్థ‌లిపై కూడా బ‌స‌వ (సోనూసూద్‌) పాగా వేస్తాడు. ఎదురొచ్చిన‌వాళ్లని అంతం చేస్తూ అక్ర‌మాలు కొన‌సాగిస్తుంటాడు. పాద‌ఘ‌ట్టం జ‌నాల్ని, ధ‌ర్మ‌స్థ‌లిని  కాపాడేవారే లేరా అనుకునే స‌మ‌యంలో కామ్రేడ్ ఆచార్య (చిరంజీవి)( Chiranjeevi ) వ‌స్తాడు. ఇంత‌కీ ఆచార్య ఎవ‌రు?ఆయ‌న్ని ఎవ‌రు పంపించారు? ధ‌ర్మ‌స్థ‌లిలోనే పెరిగిన సిద్ధ (రామ్‌చ‌ర‌ణ్)(Ram charan)కీ, ఆచార్య‌కీ సంబంధ‌మేమైనా ఉందా? ( Acharya Review) త‌దిత‌ర విష‌యాల్ని తెర‌పై చూడాల్సిందే.

ఎలా ఉందంటే?: తీసింది త‌క్కువ సినిమాలే అయినా, త‌న మార్క్  ర‌చ‌న‌తో ప్రేక్ష‌కుల‌పై బ‌ల‌మైన ప్ర‌భావం క‌నిపించేలా చేశారు కొర‌టాల శివ‌(Koratala siva).  ఆయ‌న్నుంచి సినిమా.. అదీ కూడా చిరంజీవి( Chiranjeevi )లాంటి అగ్ర క‌థానాయ‌కుడు తోడ‌య్యాడు కాబ‌ట్టి ఓ  కొత్త క‌థో, లేదంటే ఇంకేదైనా బ‌ల‌మైన అంశ‌మో ఊహిస్తారు ప్రేక్ష‌కులు. కానీ కొర‌టాల మాత్రం ఈసారి త‌న ర‌చ‌నలోని బ‌లం కంటే కూడా...  చిరంజీవి, రామ్‌చ‌ర‌ణ్‌ల స్టార్ వ్యాల్యూనే ఎక్కువ‌గా న‌మ్ముకున్న‌ట్టున్నారు. వాళ్ల ఇమేజ్‌కి త‌గ్గ క‌మ‌ర్షియ‌ల్ అంశాల్ని మాత్ర‌మే జోడించి ‘ఆచార్య‌’( Acharya Review) ని తీర్చిదిద్దారు. ఇందులో కాలం చెల్లిన క‌థ, క‌థ‌నాలు త‌ప్ప కొర‌టాల మార్క్ అంశాలు ఎక్క‌డా క‌నిపించ‌వు. కాక‌పోతే టెంపుల్ టౌన్ అంటూ ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని ధ‌ర్మ‌స్థ‌లి ప్ర‌పంచంలోకి తీసుకెళ్లి కూర్చోబెట్టారు. అదొక్క‌టే కొత్త నేప‌థ్యాన్ని ఆవిష్క‌రించిన‌ట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. కానీ, క‌థంతా దాని చుట్టూనే తిప్ప‌డంతో ఒక ద‌శ దాటిన త‌ర్వాత ధ‌ర్మ‌స్థ‌లి కూడా పాత‌బ‌డిపోతుంది.

పాద‌ఘ‌ట్టం ప‌రిచ‌యం త‌ర్వాత, ఆచార్య ( Acharya Review) ధ‌ర్మ‌స్థ‌లిలోకి అడుగు పెట్ట‌డంతో అస‌లు క‌థ మొద‌ల‌వుతుంది.  ధ‌ర్మ‌స్థ‌లిలో అధ‌ర్మానికి కార‌ణ‌మ‌వుతున్న బ‌స‌వ ముఠా ఆగ‌డాల్ని ఆచార్య  అడ్డుకోవ‌డమే ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధమంతా. పోరాట ఘ‌ట్టాలు, పాట‌ల‌తో సినిమా ముందుకు సాగుతుంది. క‌థ‌లో మాత్రం ఎక్క‌డా ఆస‌క్తి రేకెత్త‌దు. విరామానికి ముందు సిద్ధ పాత్ర ప‌రిచ‌యం కావ‌డంతో ద్వితీయార్ధంపై కాసిన్ని ఆశ‌లు రేకెత్తుతాయి. సిద్ధగా రామ్‌చ‌ర‌ణ్(Ram charan) కాసేపు ప్రేక్ష‌కుల దృష్టిని ఆక‌ర్షిస్తాడు. కానీ, కాసేప‌టి త‌ర్వాత తొలి భాగంలో చూసిన‌ట్టుగానే మ‌ళ్లీ అదే పాద‌ఘ‌ట్టం, అక్ర‌మార్కుల ఆగ‌డాలే ఆవిష్కృత‌మ‌వుతాయి. రామ్‌చ‌ర‌ణ్ - పూజాహెగ్డేల మ‌ధ్య స‌న్నివేశాలైనా కొత్త‌ద‌నాన్ని పంచుతాయ‌నుకుంటే వాటిలోనూ బ‌లం లేదు. సిద్ధ ఎవ‌రు? త‌ను ఎలా ధ‌ర్మ‌స్థ‌లిలోకి వ‌చ్చాడ‌నే విష‌యాలు కాసిన్ని భావోద్వేగాల్ని పంచుతాయి.( Acharya Review) సిద్ధ‌పై బ‌స‌వ గ్యాంగ్ దాడి త‌ర్వాత క‌థ అడ‌వుల్లోకి మారుతుంది. ధ‌ర్మ‌స్థ‌లికి  ముప్పు పొంచి ఉంద‌ని అర్థ‌మైనా... దాన్ని మ‌రిచిపోయి ఆచార్య‌తో క‌లిసి సిద్ధ ప్ర‌యాణం చేయ‌డంతో క‌థ  ప‌క్కకు మ‌ళ్లిన‌ట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. చిరంజీవి( Chiranjeevi ), రామ్‌చ‌ర‌ణ్‌ల పాత్ర‌ల్ని, క‌థ న‌డిచే టెంపుల్ టౌన్‌నీ, ఇత‌ర‌త్రా పాత్ర‌ల్ని బ‌లంగానే డిజైన్ చేసినా... క‌థ క‌థ‌నాల ప‌రంగా మాత్రం ద‌ర్శ‌కుడి ప‌నిత‌నం తేలిపోయింది.  దాంతో ప్ర‌తీ స‌న్నివేశం గ్రాండియ‌ర్‌గా క‌నిపించినా దాని తాలూకు ప్ర‌భావం మాత్రం ప్రేక్ష‌కుడిపై మ‌చ్చుకైనా క‌నిపించ‌దు. ( Acharya Review) చిరంజీవి, రామ్‌చ‌ర‌ణ్ క‌లిసి క‌నిపించే స‌న్నివేశాలు మాత్రం అభిమానుల‌కి కిక్‌నిచ్చేలా ఉంటాయి. ముఖ్యంగా భ‌లే భ‌లే బంజారా పాట‌లో ఇద్ద‌రి నృత్యం చాలా బాగుంటుంది. 

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే?: చిరంజీవి( Chiranjeevi ) కామ్రేడ్ ఆచార్య‌గా చ‌క్క‌టి అభిన‌యం ప్ర‌ద‌ర్శించారు.  ఆయ‌న క‌నిపించిన విధానంతోపాటు పోరాట ఘ‌ట్టాలు, డ్యాన్సుల‌తో అల‌రించారు.  రామ్‌చ‌ర‌ణ్(Ram charan) ద్వితీయార్ధం మొత్తం క‌నిపిస్తారు. వాళ్లిద్ద‌రివే బ‌ల‌మైన పాత్ర‌లు. సోనూసూద్‌,  జిషూసేన్ గుప్తా ప్ర‌ధాన ప్ర‌తినాయ‌కులుగా క‌నిపిస్తారు. పూజాహెగ్డే పాత్ర‌కిపెద్ద‌గా ప్రాధాన్యం లేదు. సిద్ధ‌ని ప్రేమించిన యువ‌తిగా క‌నిపిస్తుందంతే. నీలాంబ‌రి పాట‌లో అందంగా క‌నిపించింది. రెజీనా శానాక‌ష్టం అంటూ సాగే  ప్ర‌త్యేక‌గీతంలో సంద‌డి చేసింది.

సాంకేతికంగా సినిమా ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది.  మ‌ణిశ‌ర్మ పాట‌లు, నేప‌థ్య సంగీతంతో సినిమాపై ప్ర‌భావం చూపించారు. తిరు కెమెరా ప‌నిత‌నం మెప్పిస్తుంది.  ధ‌ర్మ‌స్థ‌లి నేప‌థ్యాన్ని ఆవిష్క‌రించిన తీరు చాలా అందంగా ఉంటుంది.  నిర్మాణం ప‌రంగా చ‌క్క‌టి హంగులు క‌నిపిస్తాయి. ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు కొర‌టాల శివ ధ‌ర్మం అంటూ చెడుపై మంచి సాధించే ఓ సాధార‌ణ క‌థ‌ని చెప్పారు. ఇప్ప‌టిదాకా తీసిన ప్ర‌తీ సినిమాతోనూ  త‌న‌దైన ముద్ర వేసిన కొర‌టాల శివ‌.... ఈ సినిమాతో  మాత్రం కొత్త‌గా ఏమీ చెప్ప‌లేక‌పోయారు.

Megastar Chiranjeevi is coming back to the theaters with his Acharya directed by Koratala Siva. Chiru’s last outing was in 2019 with Sye Raa. Acharya is one of the most awaited movies due to the presence of Chiranjeevi of course, but also Ram Charan plays a crucial and lengthy role in the movie. The trailer appears to serve mostly commercial elements with two superstars in it becoming the saviors of a temple town. The movie was finally released today and here is the review from the US Premieres.

What Is It About?

A temple town Dharmasthali loses its glory after Basava (Sonu Sood) takes it into his clutches. Acharya (Chiranjeevi) enters Dharmasthali and starts reforming it slowly with his silent yet violent acts. Acharya had to come to save Dharmasthali for a reason and that is Siddha (Ram Charan). Who is Siddha and how he is related to Acharya? What is Acharya’s background and how did he solve the problem of Dharmasthali? Acharya’s story answers all these questions.

Performances

Chiranjeevi is good as Acharya, but his story fails to create much impact and depth. Neither his character gets a strong presentation in Dharmasthali. Two fights where he becomes a vigilante trying to elevate but ends up in vain. His dances are still great to watch and that is the saving part of almost all the songs. Chiranjeevi’s role is monotonous and the Megastar gets nothing much really to perform here.

Ram Charan’s role is much hyped right from the first half but his role too is extremely formulaic and mostly predictable. The actor must have gone by the direction, but his role could not entertain much. With slow and predictable narration, both the Mega heroes’ roles look dull and routine Both their characters lack a strong emotional connection with Dharmasthali/Paadaghattam sentiments.

The graceful dances of both Chiru and Charan in the Bhale Banjara song remain a treat to watch. The song looks interesting and attractive just because they both dance in perfect sync.

Pooja Hegde has got a minuscule role and she mostly appears as a guest. With Chiru having no heroine, Pooja Hegde is there just to fill the gap as Charan’s love interest.

Sonu Sood, Jishu Sen Gupta, Tanikella Bharani, and others are fine, though they are all given the same old roles they have played umpteen times. Satya Dev appears in a guest role and he is alright.

Technicalities

Acharya is a routine plot with weak narration. The flow of scenes could be predicted by their most old-fashioned ways.

The graphics work in the movie is not great and could have been a lot better with the star cast like Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan in it. The screenplay is outdated.  

The background music is alright and the songs are good to watch mostly due to Chiru and Charan in them. The dialogues are ordinary.

Weak Plot Poor formulaic narration Routine Characterizations

The senior heroes like Chiranjeevi have reached a point where they are becoming very protective of themselves during the story selection and often coming up with the same ‘safe’ stories with so-called commercial elements included. Acharya ends up as one of the routine storylines with predictable scenes all along.

The director gives a new backdrop with terms like Dharmasthali, and Paadaghattam and introduces the savior of them, Acharya to us. But took no time to fall back into the regular routine masala formula of a commercially viable movie.

The first half starts at a slow pace with an Intriguing voiceover by Mahesh Babu, but the pace doesn’t pick up even after Chiranjeevi enters. The most needed highlights and highs with his entry thereafter go missing. The scenes can be easily predictable. Though Chiru’s dance is good to watch, the songs Laahe Laahe and Saana Kashtam appear obviously forced.

With Chiru giving hints about his mission in Dharmasthali and about Siddha, it is clearly evident that the second half is all about Siddha. While the most hyped Siddha too goes in a vintage narrative of a rescuer or a savior. Ram Charan and Pooja Hegde’s love story and the song followed by those scenes are extremely boring.

The villains Sonu Sood, Jishu Sen Gupta, and his brother are just the same villains we have watched in many films who worry mainly about mining and encroaching. At least the villain’s methods of troubling the good folks don’t change here, like adulterating the medicines of Paadaghattam people, etc. On top of that, the three villains sound the same, maybe due to the usage of the same dubbing voice for all Bollywood villains.

There are many other outdated scenes like punishing a rapist, saving a girl from bad youngsters, saving the young boys from the quarry work and these come as a part of elevating the heroism. The scenes like Basava brutally killing a sincere officer, backstabbing Siddha, and supplying the drugs for the youth, are as old as mountains.

The Acharya himself stays mostly as a spectator in the second half just to watch Siddha take over, again with the same vintage formulaic scenes and elevations. Some combination scenes between Charan and Chiru turned out just okay, while their comedy at the quarry fails miserably. The climax fight is red and violent with Acharya in destruction mode, which might enthrall some action fans.

Having said that, Acharya is an outdated drama with some enjoyable dances and many predictable scenes. The presence of Mega heroes Chiru and Charan may not be able to help the movie, as the story and the narrative are much bigger villains here.  

Bottomline: A Boring Class From Acharya

ధర్మస్థలంలో అధర్మం రాజ్యం వెళ్తున్న క్రమంలో ఆచార్య (చిరంజీవి) అక్కడకి వస్తాడు. ఎంతో ప్రసిద్ది గాంచిన ధర్మస్థలి అప్పటికే బసవ(సోనూసూద్‌) చేతుల్లోకి వెళ్ళిపోతుంది. బసవ మరియు అతని మనుషులు చేసే అరాచకాలను ఆచార్య ఎలా అరికట్టాడు? అసలు ఆచార్యకి ధర్మస్థలికి ఉన్న సంబంధం ఏమిటి? ధర్మస్థలిలో నీలాంబరి (పూజా హెగ్డే) ఎవరి కోసం ఎదురు చూస్తూ ఉంటుంది? ధర్మస్థలి పక్కనే ఉన్న పాద ఘట్టం సంరక్షకుడిగా ఉన్న సిద్ద (రామ్‌ చరణ్‌) ఏమైపోయాడు? అసలు సిద్ధ ఎవరు? సిద్ధాకి ఆచార్యకి మధ్య ఉన్న బంధం ఏమిటి? చివరకు ఆచార్య ధర్మస్థలిలో ధర్మాన్ని ఎలా నిలబెట్టాడు? అనేది మిగిలిన కథ.

ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్:

అత్యంత భారీ అంచనాలతో భారీ చిత్రంగా వచ్చిన ఈ సినిమా, అద్భుతమైన ఎమోషన్స్ తో, విజువల్స్ తో మరియు భారీ తారాగణంతో తెరకెక్కించబడటమే ఈ సినిమాకి ప్రధాన ప్లస్ పాయింట్. మెగాస్టార్ చిరంజీవి తన పరిపక్వతమైన నటనతో ఈ చిత్రంలోనే ఉత్తమమైన నటనను కనబర్చారు. ముఖ్యంగా క్లిష్టమైన కొన్ని ఎమోషనల్ సన్నివేశాల్లో ఆయన తన మార్క్ నటనతో సినిమాకే హైలెట్ గా నిలిచారు. మరో కీలక పాత్ర సిద్ధగా కనిపించిన చరణ్ సినిమాకి మరో ప్రత్యేక ఆకర్షణ.

చిరు – చరణ్ ఒకే ఫ్రేమ్ లో కనిపించడం ఫ్యాన్స్ కి అతి పెద్ద విందు భోజనం. పైగా చిరు – చరణ్ పాత్రల మధ్య జర్నీ అండ్ ఎలివేషన్స్ అద్భుతంగా అనిపించాయి. అలాగే చరణ్ క్యారెక్టర్ లోని షేడ్స్ చాలా బాగున్నాయి. ఇక చరణ్ సరసన కథానాయకగా నటించిన పూజా హెగ్డే తన స్క్రీన్ ప్రెజెన్స్ తో పాటుగా తన నటనతోనూ బాగా ఆకట్టుకుంది. చరణ్ – పూజా హెగ్డే మధ్య కెమిస్ట్రీ కూడా బాగుంది.

ఇక సినిమాలో నాజ‌ర్, అజ‌య్, త‌నికెళ్ల భ‌ర‌ణి తమ పాత్రలకి పూర్తి న్యాయం చేశారు. అలాగే ఇతర పాత్రల్లో కనిపించిన మిగిలిన నటీనటులు కూడా తమ నటనతో ఆకట్టుకున్నారు. అదేవిదంగా మ‌హేష్ బాబు వాయిస్ ఓవ‌ర్‌, చరణ్, చిరంజీవి నక్సలైట్లుగా కనిపించే విజువల్స్ మరియు క్లైమాక్స్ సినిమాకే ప్రత్యేక ఆకర్షణగా నిలుస్తాయి.

మైనస్ పాయింట్స్:

భారీ అంచనాలతో వచ్చిన ఈ మెగా హై ఎమోషనల్ అండ్ యాక్షన్ ఎంటర్ టైనర్ విజువల్స్ పరంగా ఆకట్టుకున్నా.. కథనం పరంగా సినిమా స్థాయికి తగ్గట్టుగా లేదు. అలాగే ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ లో మరియు సెకండాఫ్ లలో వచ్చే సాగదీత సీన్స్, బోరింగ్ ట్రీట్మెంట్, ఇంట్రస్ట్ గా సాగని మెయిన్ సీక్వెన్స్ స్ అదే విధంగా ముందుగానే అర్ధమయ్యే కొన్ని సన్నివేశాల సినిమాకి మైనస్ పాయింట్స్ గా నిలుస్తాయి.

దర్శకుడు కొరటాల శివ సినిమాను ఆసక్తికరమైన విజువల్స్ తో నడిపినా.. స్లోగా సాగే సీన్స్ తో కొన్నిచోట్ల సినిమాని బాగా నెమ్మదిగా నడిపారు. అలాగే సెకెండ్ హాఫ్ లో కూడా కొన్ని సీన్స్ బాగా రొటీన్ గా సాగాయి. ముఖ్యంగా ఆ సీన్స్ లో ఇంట్రస్ట్ మిస్ అయింది. 90 కాలం నాటి వెరీ రెగ్యులర్ మేకింగ్ స్టైల్ తో ఆ సన్నివేశాలు ఉన్నాయి. మొత్తమ్మీద మెగా ఫ్యాన్స్ తో పాటు సాధారణ ఆడియన్స్ కి కూడా బాగా కనెక్ట్ అయ్యే ఎలిమెంట్స్ ఇంట్రస్టింగ్ గా ఉండి ఉంటే ఈ సినిమా పూర్తి సంతృప్తికరంగా ఉండి ఉండేది. కానీ అలా లేదు.

సాంకేతిక విభాగం:

ఈ సినిమాకు సంబంధించి సాంకేతిక విభాగం గురించి మాట్లాడుకుంటే.. సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ వర్క్ అద్భుతంగా ఉంది. సినిమాలోని యాక్షన్ సన్నివేశాలతో పాటు మిగిలిన సన్నివేశాలను కూడా కథాకథనాలకు అనుగుణంగా చాలా అందంగా చిత్రీకరించారు. మణిశర్మ సంగీతం సినిమాకి బాగా ప్లస్ అయ్యింది. ఎడిటింగ్ కూడా చాలా బాగుంది. అయితే సినిమాలో స్లోగా సాగే సీన్స్ ను సాధ్యమైనంత వరకు ట్రీమ్ చేసి ఉంటే.. సినిమాకి ప్లస్ అయ్యేది. పాటల పిక్చరైజేషన్ కూడా చాలా బాగుంది. నిర్మాతలు ఎక్కడా కాంప్రమైజ్ కాకుండా ఈ చిత్రాన్ని నిర్మించారు. నిర్మాణ విలువులు అద్భుతంగా ఉన్నాయి.

అత్యంత భారీ అంచనాలతో వచ్చిన ఈ భారీ మెగా ఎమోషనల్ యాక్షన్ ఎంట‌ర్‌టైన‌ర్.. ఆ అంచనాలను అందకోలేక పోయింది. కాకపోతే, మెయిన్ కథాంశం, చిరు – చరణ్ ల నటన, వీరు కలిసి సాగిన సన్నివేశాలు, మెగాస్టార్ – మెగా పవర్ స్టార్ స్క్రీన్ ప్రేజన్సీ బాగా ఆకట్టుకున్నాయి. అయితే, రొటీన్ సీన్స్ తో స్లోగా సాగే ప్లే, అక్కడక్కడ బోరింగ్ ట్రీట్మెంట్, ఇక బలం లేని మెయిన్ సీక్వెన్స్ స్.. ఈ సినిమాకి మైనస్ పాయింట్స్ గా నిలిచాయి. ఓవరాల్ గా ఈ చిత్రం ఆకట్టుకోలేకపోయింది.

What's Behind

Mega Star Chiranjeevi's Acharya is releasing on April 29, 2022 in a spectacular manner across the world. The film is generating immense hype as Chiranjeevi is coming to entertain movie lovers after a gap of more than two years and he is sharing screen presence with his son Mega Power Star Ram Charan in a full-length role for the first time. The film directed by Koratala Shiva is increasing curiosity among all. Let us find out what Acharya offered to movie lovers.

Story Review

Acharya (Chiranjeevi) gets disappointed when he sees the temple town of Dharmasthali a contrast to what he heard of. He quickly finds the core problem as nefarious plans are on to separate Dharmasthali from the tribals of Paadaghattam. Where this leads to and what is the connection to it with the town's municipal chairman Basava (Sonu Sood), influential business magnate Rathod (Jisshu Sen Gupta), and the dream of Siddha (Ram Charan) and whether is love with Neelambari (Pooja Hegde) succeeds, becomes the crux of Acharya.

Artists, Technicians Review

The entire industry envied when Koratala Shiva got the lucky chance to direct Mega Star Chiranjeevi for which many aspire for decades. However, there is no denying the fact that Koratala was rewarded after he scored hits with his previous entertainers that are filled with a social message. Not only mega fans but also movie lovers expected wonders from Kortala and Mega Star Chiranjeevi and when Ram Charan became a part of it, their joy knew no bounds.

The Dharmasthali backdrop, temple setup, etc excited all and the proceedings start in a similar fashion. However routine elements enter and from there on it turned out to be a tedious watch. Even the entry of Chiranjeevi as Acharya did not liven up the proceedings and viewers wait patiently for something magical to happen as Chiranjeevi dances and fights with ease. The entry of Ram Charan brings life into the narration and the flashes of Ram Charan as Siddha bring curtains to the first half. When people expect a power-packed second half with Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan, the narration reaches a new nadir. The naxal backdrop and everything else turns tried and tested for a long as viewers have watched such scenes in many films earlier. With Koratala unable to elevate the narration with the twists and turns, monotony plays spoilsport with silly and illogical scenes like the comical fight featuring Ram Charan and Chiranjeevi. The film finally ends the relentless torture of the viewers with the mundane climax.

Koratala Shiva drew inspiration from many earlier films for Acharya and for all the hype everything turned artificial. Nothing breathed life into the story and even the stunts choreographed by Ram Lakshman failed to give goosebumps to the viewers and the dance movements choreographed for the songs by Prem Rakshit turned out to be repetitive. Dialogues looked pretty average and Koratala's reputation took a beating.

Chiranjeevi tried his best to do full justice to his role. He tried to bring life into his passive role with his mannerisms and expressions. For all his efforts, he could only stop the ship from sinking. He danced with ease and is a delight to watch be it the item song Saana Kashtam with Regina Cassandra or Banjara with his son Ram Charan. He did good stunts showing that he still has it in him to carry the film on his shoulders. But one gets a feeling that his judgment misfired this time.

Ram Charan with his performance increased the expectations of the proceedings among movie lovers. He performed well as a person who believes in dharma and even sacrifices his love to save dharma. He enacted action sequences along with his dad and danced well in a romantic manner with Pooja Hegde and delighted all the fans by sharing screen presence with his dad Chiranjeevi.

Pooja Hegde got a limited screen presence and she is confined to a romantic song and a scene. Others just passed through the motions. Sonu Sood got a typical villain role and he did what was expected from him. Nassar, Jisshu Sen Gupta, and Satyadev got limited roles while Tanikella Bharani and Ajay are not utilized properly. Regina Cassandra oozed with glamor in the special song. Mahesh Babu powered the film with his voice-over.

Tirru's cinematography is good and showed the Dharmasthali and Paadaghattam proceedings and also the Naxal backdrop quite well. The artwork of Suresh Selvarajan is good. However, at times, the sets looked artificial. Naveen Nooli's editing turned out to be average as he left many repetitive scenes which dragged the film's proceedings. Mani Sharma disappointed in no time as his background score turned out to be below average. Even the songs are pretty average and a couple of songs are talked about only for the dance movements of Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan. Production values are grand.

Koratala Shiva's Acharya with Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan turned out to be a disappointing fare by all means. With missing elevations, emotions, and a completely outdated and routine story that lacked the real twists and turns, even fans found it a miserable watch. Considering all these aspects, CJ goes with a 2.25 rating for Acharya.

Megastar Chiranjeevi and his son Ram Charan are teaming up for the first time through Acharya, a mass entertainer directed by Koratala Siva. The film is hitting the screens on April 29th with a record number of screens. Here is the complete review of Acharya:

Basava (Sonu Sood) controls the temple town Dharmasthali with his gang’s making it a place of crime and dishonesty. Padaghattam’s people, known for their ancient ways of dharma and Ayurveda knowledge, are also affected by Basava’s atrocities. Acharya (Chiranjeevi) comes to the aid of the Dharmasthali and Padaghattam people. Acharya’s relationship with Sidda (Ram Charan) is revealed in a flashback, which has illegal mining mafia background. The rest of the story shows how the two righteous men fight injustice and save the people of Dharmastali and Padaghattam.

15 minutes – that’s how long it took to unveil the dated story. But the hope of grandeur hero introductions and high moments keep the audience waiting in their seats. Unfortunately, this does not happen. Mega Star’s soft introduction and the following slow pace scenes just do not meet any expectations. An OK item song with Regina & Chiranjeevi and done with the first half. A good entry in the interval scene gives hope that Ram Charan as Sidda will uplift the movie in the second half. Did not happen.

The sets, characters, and dialogues are pathetic.  Padaghattam word is uttered in every other scene every other minute. Chiranjeevi doesn’t have a platform to perform up to his mettle. Ram Charan‘s character is not a cameo or a 30-minute gig – pretty much the entire second half.

Neelambari song between Charan and Pooja Hegde is okay, Bhale Bhale Banjara song is good with Megastar Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan dances. The visual effects work is poor, production values are not grand.

Koratala Siva and his team failed miserably and were able to put together at least a couple of highlight scenes – something that fans could take solace in. With such a versatile actor duo, 2 Mega Stars no less, how could something like this happen? A simple outdated plot and uninteresting direction from Koratala – make it hard to get into the movie.

• Mega Star Chiranjeevi in Acharya’s role is unimpressive due to weak characterization.
• No entertainment, No fan elements
• Weak story and direction

Acharya movie has a weak script and is further ruined by an unimpressive narration from Koratala Siva. The dated story couldn’t do justice to either of the roles (Acharya/Sidda); it’s another Mrugaraju in Chiranjeevi’s career!

Acharya Review: Insipid and Uninvolving

Since its launch, “Acharya” has generated hype among mega fans and film lovers as well. Though the film got delayed due to the pandemic, “Acharya” sustained interest as it marked the first collaboration between Chiranjeevi and successful director Koratala Siva. Besides that, it also stars Ram Charan alongside his father megastar Chiranjeevi.

Let’s find out whether the film lives up to expectations or not.

Story: Dharmasthali is a temple town nestled in Siddhavanam forest. Paadhaghattam is an adjacent tribal village that protects Darmasthali.

Local municipal chairman Basava (Sonu Sood) has plans to hand over the place to a businessman for mining, and he creates anarchy there.

A Naxalite leader Acharya (Chiranjeevi) steps in Dharmasthali and begins to set things right.

Why did he come to this place? What is his real motive? What is his connection with Siddha (Ram Charan), who used to run a gurukul in this area?

Artistes’ Performances: Megastar Chiranjeevi is not a teacher, but a Naxalite in the film. For some reason, everyone calls him Acharya (teacher). The veteran star-actor has tried to be as natural as possible in the given role. Generally, Koratala Siva pens powerful and dignified roles for his heroes. But here, those qualities are lacking. Chiranjeevi’s portions in the first half of the film are sleep-inducing. However, he brings the intensity required in the action episodes. The megastar leaves his mark in scenes involving Ram Charan in dance movements.

Ram Charan is an asset to this film. As Siddha, he infuses energy into the proceedings. There is nothing much to talk about his performance, but he holds the film in the second half. Pooja Hegde as Ram Charan’s love interest is okay. 

Sonu Sood’s characterization has misfired. It’s a clichéd role, and the actor does it routinely.

Jissu Sengupta seems to have stepped in from another film. Mahesh Babu’s voiceover adds no value to the story at all. 

Technical Excellence: The film has a stunning production design. The temple set worth crores of rupees is grand. The visual effects have further added richness to the visuals. The cinematography and production design are the main highlights of this movie.

Though Mani Sharma has given catchy songs, only “Bhale Bhale Banjara” has worked on the screen, thanks to energetic dance steps from Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan.

Analysis After delivering four hits in a row, Koratala Siva has made “Acharya”, which marked megastar Chiranjeevi and his son Ram Charan acting together in full-length roles. 

After the initial five minutes, the story comes to the main point: a mining businessman has his eyes on the forest land, and the locals have been resisting.

The backdrop of a temple town and the protagonist being a Naxalite leader aside, the story is clichéd. Umpteen movies have been made on that point of a businessman/corporate company trying to grab a village/forest land.

Director Siva begins the story with Chiranjeevi and his attempts to set things right in Dharmasthali and later (in the second half) reveals the story of Ram Charan. A tried and dusted template!

Despite having a super hit song “Lahe Laahe” and an item song, the first half of the film really tests our patience with proceedings that are as predictable as they come.

Koratala Siva has never presented his movies in such an outdated setting. Be it “Mirchi” or “Srimanthudu” or “Bharath Ane Nenu”, he presented the first half of the film in an energetic manner with good songs.

Since Chiranjeevi is a senior hero, Koratala Siva seems to have no clues about holding our attention in the first half sans romantic thread or any other material. He doesn’t bring the character of Ram Charan before the interval. So, with these limitations, the film has become a boring affair until Ram Charan arrives in the scene. 

Though the second half has nothing new, it is fairly better than the dull and archaic narrative of the preceding sequences. Ram Charan, for some moments, brings energy. But the film again slips into mediocrity. Finding freshness in any of the scenes is like searching for a needle in the haystack. 

Plus, there is no contemporary feel in any of the scenes. The temple town and their behavior make us believe that the film is a period drama set 50 years ago. Uninspiring background score further spoils the final moments. 

Koratala Siva is known for writing powerful dialogues and coming up with one or two terrific mass moments in the second half. The film doesn’t offer his trademark writing style at all.

“Acharya” seems to have suffered from long delays and many reshoots. But primarily, the soul is lacking and the narrative is totally boring. In nutshell, watching “Acharya” without falling into sleep mode is difficult.

Touted to be a socio-political actioner, the plot revolves around a middle-aged Naxalite-turned-social reformer who launches a fight against the Endowments Department over misappropriation of temple funds and donations.

Acharya is an upcoming Indian Telugu-language action drama film written and directed by Koratala Siva. It is produced by Matinee Entertainment and Konidela Production Company. The film stars Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Pooja Hegde and Kajal Aggarwal. It features music composed by Mani Sharma with cinematography by Tirru.

The film was launched in October 2019. Principal photography began in January 2020 but the production has been delayed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on 29 April 2022.

The film was launched on 8 October 2019 with the working title of #Chiru152 on Vijayadashami festival, being the first collaboration of Koratala Siva and Chiranjeevi. On 1 March 2020, the title was revealed to be Acharya.

Mani Sharma is the music composer. Cinematography and editing is performed respectively by Tirru and Naveen Nooli. Suresh Selvarajan is the art director.

In January 2022, Asianet News reported that the film’s storyline is based on the Naxalite movement in Srikakulam district, led by poet and cultural activist Subbarao Panigrahi.

Trisha was cast as the lead but she exited later, citing creative differences, and eventually replaced by Kajal Aggarwal. Reportedly, Mahesh Babu was offered the cameo lead Siddha’s role. However, Chiranjeevi later confirmed his son Ram Charan for Siddha’s role; Koratala Siva adjusted the role to make it full-fledged. In an interview with Variety, Charan said “It’s a 40-minute role, it’s pretty much the whole of the second half.”

Pooja Hegde was cast as Neelambari opposite Charan. Regina Cassandra was signed for a special song in March 2020.

Principal photography began in January 2020. Important portions were shot with Chiranjeevi and others at Ramoji Film City. The filming was going at a brisk pace until suspension in March 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. Filming was resumed in November 2020, and Aggarwal joined the sets in December 2020 in Hyderabad. A temple town set spanning 20 acres was built for the film.

Charan joined the production in January 2021. The film team reached Rajahmundry the same month. In March 2021, Pooja Hegde shot her portions with a montage song at a specially-constructed set in Maredumilli. A schedule took place at Singareni coal mines, Yellandu later that month. Owing to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the filming was paused again and later resumed in July 2021 at a village set in Hyderabad . Both Ram Charan and Chiranjeevi resumed shooting their portions that month. Except for two songs, the rest of shoot finished in August 2021.

The film’s soundtrack album is composed by Mani Sharma.

'Acharya' box office collection Day 1

'Acharya', which has been released on 2000 screens across the world, will have to pick up pace over the weekend. The Koratala Siva directorial has opened to mixed critical reception. While people praised Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan’s performances, the movie received flak for its weak story and slow-paced narration.
