Ready to apply? Application tips for the World Bank Treasury Summer Internship

treasury summer internship cohort of 2022

1. Follow all application instructions.

A completed application includes a one-page PDF cover letter and one-page PDF resume. An application without both a cover letter and resume will not be accepted.

2. Watch the internship experience webinar.

We developed our first-ever webinar on the intern experience to help explain the experience of the internship. The webinar is firsthand account of what you can expect as an intern and potential Junior Analyst.

3. Read Junior Analyst feature stories to understand the connection between the Summer Internship and Junior Analyst programs.

We profiled five former interns and current Junior Analysts to share their perspectives. Hear their experiences from across departments and teams, and what you could expect as a Junior Analyst. You can read the profiles on the Student & Graduate Careers portal: treasury.worldbank.org/studentcareers .

4. Use the suggested cover letter and resume templates.

While this is not a requirement, we encourage applicants to use the cover letter template and resume template to create a clear and compelling application. With this said, you will not be penalized for not using the templates, but please keep your cover letter and resume to a single page each. This will help the evaluation committee see the most relevant aspects of your experience, perspective and skills to the internship.

5. Explain how your career interests aligns with the programs.

The internship aims to bring exceptional college students, who possess a demonstrated interest in a financial career, to support the World Bank’s development mandate. The internship lays the foundation to become a Junior Analyst, a two-year position on of one Treasury’s team, immediately after graduation from their degree program. While we expect nearly all college students to have broad and varying interests, we are also seeking the best fits for this program. Help us understand your interests by telling a story of how your experiences to-date align with the World Bank’s mission and Treasury’s business lines. Writing a cover letter that could be written for any company or organization will not best position your application.

6. Consider sharing your perspective through an optional diversity statement.

We encourage you to write a half-page PDF optional statement on the diversity of your perspective or experience that would contribute to World Bank Treasury. Diversity comes in many forms, and Treasury staff represent over 60 nationalities from all regions of the world. Learn about the colleagues who contribute to the fabric of the World Bank Treasury through this video and through our People page .
