Enhancing My Fitness during Pandemic and Encouraging People to Become Physically Fit By Engaging in Sports
When our government announced and implemented a nationwide lockdown last March 2020, one of our thoughts was âWhat are we supposed to do when we are advised to stay at home?â Many people were thinking about spending their days by relaxing, watching movies or series, playing online games, or cooking the trending foods and then eating it with their family. Others were thinking about their school requirements that they havenât finished and were not already passed while other people were thinking about their jobs and how they could support their family under this situation. At some point during the lockdown, I was thinking about those thoughts over and over again until I finally thought of a goal that I should focus on â to become more physically fit. The question is, âWhat should I do to enhance my fitness during the pandemic?â
As you may know, my body type back then can be described as âfatâ and I was really contented with it. However, due to the influence of several social media influencers, I was inspired to start doing home workouts. Despite being at home all the time, there were still a lot of activities that we can choose to do during the lockdown and as for me, I chose to spend this time to make a change for myself and my body. I browsed the internet for home workouts suitable for beginners and I also searched for some reminders that should be kept in mind when engaging to this type of activity. Remembering how my first day went is pretty hilarious for me. I was so energized that day to the point that I pushed myself a little too hard. Instead of just following one workout video since it was my first time, silly me actually used two videos as guides for the exercise. Then the next day, I just found myself lying in bed all day long due to muscle issues. But that didnât stop me from wanting to achieve my goal, I learned my lesson and waited for my body to recover before continuing. I worked out every other day for months and fortunately, I saw some progress with my body. I started losing weight and was finally able to do some things that I was not able to do back then due to my body type. I was somehow feeling joyful of what I was seeing and at the same time, I was feeling proud of myself. At the time when protocols were modified or when playing selected sports within the community was permitted and allowed, I started playing volleyball as an alternative for doing home workouts. Whenever I had free time, I would just go to the volleyball court in our sitio and play with other people actively and enjoyably. After playing for months, I can say that playing this sport is really effective because I saw some progress with my body, again. I was continually losing body fats and became taller than ever. I can say that I was able to enhance my fitness through home workouts and sports in spite of the restrictions brought by the pandemic.
And now, I encourage you to become physically fit by participating in physical activities. In this time of pandemic, boosting our immune system is one of the things that we should do to prevent ourselves from getting infected with the alarming and fatal COVID-19, and we can do this by engaging in physical activities, such as sports. Playing sports really does offer a lot of benefits for us, for our health, and for our daily life. I am a living proof of those benefits and I hope that through this shared story of experience, I can inspire you to start engaging in sports for the other benefits youâll get that will help you a lot in coping with the world, and to become physically fit and ready to fight the pandemic.
There are a lot of ways on how to enhance our fitness during pandemic, such as working out, dieting, and playing sports, and I encourage you to choose an activity that is suitable for you, an activity that will enable you to push yourself to its limits, and more importantly, an activity that you will enjoy. This pandemic has brought a lot of challenges and difficulties not just for me but for each and every one of us, and I suggest that we should do something good and beneficial for ourselves during this time. Letâs start taking action and always remember to commit to it. Let us not quit; instead, let us become physically fit!
